Microneedling
Micro-needling is a proven rejuvenation technique, also known as skin needling or collagen induction therapy. The treatment uses small needles to create tiny punctures in the skin, which encourages the body to activate a safe wound healing response, which is an effective way to renew the skin cells and reverse the damage, thus creating fresh, young, and healthy-looking skin.
Though tiny, each wound goes through 3 stages of healing. These are:
- Inflammation
- Tissue formation or proliferation
- Tissue remodelling
The puncture holes begin to close in minutes once the dermis (skin’s layer) is penetrated. The white blood cells (leucocytes) act on the damaged tissue. They kill bacteria and remove debris. Furthermore, these reactions lead to the Fibroblasts to increase the production of elastin and collagen.
Moreover, as the skin begins to repair and collagen production increases, it gives an almost immediate plumping effect. A few days after the treatment, the keratinocytes (epidermal cells) start to reproduce, which makes the epidermis thicker. Over the following months, the skin tightens as the collagen becomes more supported.

Benefits of Microneedling
The treatment offers a plethora of benefits, such as:
- Rejuvenates tired and dull skin by combating the signs of ageing
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles on the face dramatically
- Improves acne and chickenpox scars while smoothening uneven texture
- Fade dark patches and pigmentation caused due to ageing and sun damage
Ideal Candidate
Any patient with:
- Fine lines
- Moderate wrinkles
- Uneven skin texture
- Moderate skin laxity
- Diminished texture
- Uneven skin tone, colour, and no ‘glow’
- Atrophic (depressed) acne scars
- Stretch marks
- Traumatic scars
- Sun damage
Are there side effects to Microneedling?

After the treatment, your skin will be flushed and red in appearance similar to moderate sunburn. Other effects may include skin tightness and sometimes even mild sensitivity. However, there is nothing to worry about as the skin’s redness will diminish after a few hours following the treatment, and within 24 hours, your skin will feel and appear normal. Nonetheless, it is advisable to avoid sun exposure and sweaty activities for the first three days post-treatment.
What to Expect?

A numbing cream shall be applied before the treatment to minimise discomfort and pain that may be felt during the treatment. However, in general, patients find the Microneedling treatment quite tolerable.
On the other hand, the nude lips technique has a translucent application of pigment that focuses on enhancing the beauty of the lips in the most natural way. It emphasises on the natural beauty of your lips without drawing attention to the makeup.
